With the start of the NFL regular season only days away, an impressive four former California University of Pennsylvania football players – Tommie Campbell (Tennessee Titans), Dominique Curry (St. Louis Rams), Terrence Johnson (Indianapolis Colts) and Josh Portis (Seattle Seahawks) – were selected to the 53-player active roster with their respective teams.

Former California University of Pennsylvania quarterback Josh Portis (Woodland Hills, Calif./William H. Taft) led a pair of fourth-quarter touchdown drives, including the game-winner, on Thursday night in his professional debut to help lead the Seattle Seahawks to a 24-17 preseason win over the San Diego Chargers on ESPN.

The Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) announced the All-PSAC West football teams on Wednesday and California University of Pennsylvania led the league with 17 players selected, including eight first-team honorees, and two players received individual awards.

California University of Pennsylvania senior outside hitter Joanna Nist (Rockwood, Pa./Rockwood) was selected the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) West Athlete of the Week after leading the Vulcans to a 4-0 record last week at their home PSAC Crossover Tournament, announced the league office on Tuesday.
Cal Football Falters in Home Opener, 17-23

After averaging just over two turnovers a game last year, the Vulcans could not control the turnover battle to start the season. California turned the ball over three times en route to a 23-17 opening day loss to the Saginaw Valley State (Mich.) Cardinals. In his Vulcan debut, transfer student Josh Portis threw two interceptions and one touchdown, but added an extra weapon with his legs.
