The Multimedia Access Center is an open lab where you can exercise your creativity, work on an assignment, attend a workshop, record a short video or simply check your email.
Located on the first floor of the Natali Student Center across from the Student Bookstore, the lab has 8 Apple iMacs and 2 Mac Pros, loaded with Adobe CS, Apple’s iLife & iWork, and Microsoft Office. Specialty machines also have the iPhone and Android SDK.
Occasionally we offer workshops for students and staff, and our knowledgeable student staff is always available to help. They won’t do your homework, but they can give you tips on how to use the software.
The lab has a Sharp color printer/copier/scanner free for student use. We ask that you keep copies to a MAXIMUM of 30 copies per project, please. If you need a larger quantity, we suggest the university Copy Center (x4440).
There is also a large format printer that can print up to 36″ high/wide. Printing on the large format printer requires advance notice of at least 5 business days. There is a nominal cost associated with large format printing. You may submit your job request via our project request form.
Black and White Printing – B/W printing is available on-demand to anyone who uses the lab. The limit is 30 copies per person, per day.
Color Printing (UPDATED) – Color printing will no longer be available on-demand. Color prints must be submitted in advance via OrgSync form (https://orgsync.com/60371/forms/94629) and will be printed after 5:00 p.m. on the night they are received. All prints submitted on Friday will be available the following Monday after 9:00 a.m. Both color and black & white printing will remain free of charge, and are limited to 30 copies per person, per project, per day.
Large Format Printing (UPDATED) – Requests for print materials larger than 11×17 must be submitted at least 5 business days in advance via OrgSync form, and are priced per square inch. Rush jobs (less than 5 business days in advance) will be charged an additional $5.00 per job. Mounting is available for and additional $1.00 per square foot, and the customer must provide the mounting materials (poster board, foam board, etc.). Payments accepted are cash, money order, or university PO. We cannot bill a cost center.

Custom sizes are $2/square foot for plain paper, $4/sq. ft for photo paper.

The Mac Lab computers are available on a first-come, first-served basis. Our peak times are from 11am-1pm, so plan accordingly! Since the lab is an active work environment, we ask that you use headphones or earbuds (not provided) set to a reasonable volume to listen to any audio/video files.
LAB ASSISTANCE – The lab employs student workers that are majors in graphic design, graphic communications, computer information systems, computer engineering technology, and electronic engineering technology. They can provide assistance using the computers and the software installed on them. They can NOT help you do your classwork. The Math Lab and the Writing Center both have tutors available.
All Mac Lab staff are Sync Certified and can answer your questions about the OrgSync club management system.
Lab staff provides workshops on OrgSync usage, poster design, web design, and other topics of interest. Please check our OrgSync page (search Mac Lab) or Twitter account (@calumaclab) for details.
The MAC Lab offers free web development services to all allocated clubs and organizations on campus. We can develop your club a brand new website from design to implementation. We also manage updates to existing club websites. You can request a website using our project request form.
Our Creatives will work with your group to create event posters, t-shirt designs, logos, and more. Schedule an appointment by completing our project request form. Please allow ample time before your event for the creative process.
Need to digitize some video for class or film a short video? Thinking about starting a podcast or want to learn more about livestreaming? Stop by and talk with one of our audio/video experts; you can even sign out a video camera or a handheld recorder for your projects. CalCard required for lending.
