Faculty and Staff

Justin Barroner came to California University in 2005 to help develop and grow the University’s Professional Golf Management Program. Since this time, Mr. Barroner has helped build an internship program which highlights over 200 facilities across the country including Congressional Country Club (Host of the 1997 and 2011 US OPEN Championships), Crooked Stick Golf Club (Host of the 2007 US Women’s Amateur Championship and the 2009 US Senior Open), Nemacolin Woodlands Resort (Host of the 2003–2006 PGA Tour 84 Lumber Classic), and The Broadmoor Resort (Host of the 2008 US Senior Open and 2011 US Women’s Open).

Vanessa MacKinnon is the internship coordinator for the Professional Golf Management (PGM) program and an Assistant Professor of Sport and Health Science. Prior to coming to Cal in July of 2008, she spent ten years in the golf industry, the last six as a full-time teaching professional. She is a Class A member of the PGA of America, as well as a member of the LPGA Teaching and Club Professional Division. She has also competed on the professional long drive circuit, including in five World Championships. continue reading
