Fiction Team
Kendra Fischer, assistant Fiction Team editor, is a junior English major with a concentration in Creative Writing. She has a career with The Skin Center in the public relations and marketing department. She enjoys family trips to Florida and watching her son grow up. Upon graduation, she plans to continue her career at The Skin Center.
Allison Helman of McConnellsburg is a Cal U senior, majoring in Journalism and Creative Writing, and minoring in History. She participates in the History Club. After graduating, she’d like to attend grad school, become a professional writer, and travel. When she was 11, she attended summer camp at Kamehameha Schools in Honolulu, where she learned about Hawaiian culture, including how to hula. She likes to write, read, paint, and scrapbook in her spare time.
Melissa McGinnis is a California University senior from Coatesville, majoring in Creative Writing. Music is just one of her interests, which also include reading, writing, watching hockey, and napping. McGinnis is the front house engineer for a local touring band, “The Coal Center String Band.” She has no specific career choice upon graduation. McGinnis says, “I just want to find something that will help me survive.” Someday she would like to publish a novel in which vampires do not sparkle.
Paul Ondash, a Clarksville native, is a senior English major with a concentration in Journalism. He has made the honors list every semester he’s been at Cal U. Ondash is a videogame and sci-fi enthusiast. Upon graduation, he wants to focus on his freelance writing, primarily on the subjects of technology, movies, and videogames.
Chris Raleigh, a Mifflinburg native, is entering his senior year. He is majoring in English with a concentration in Creative Writing; he’s also pursuing his minor in Justice Studies. Raleigh has made the dean’s list multiple times and was recently nominated to attend The Harrisburg Internship Semester. Upon graduation, he plans to pursue a job in the Department of Homeland Security.
Hilary Scott, editor of the Fiction Team, is a Youngsville native and a senior English major with a concentration in Creative Writing. In spring 2009, she received the English Department’s Major Minor Award for being an Outstanding English Student. Scott enjoys riding horses, working on cars, and racing. Upon graduation, she hopes to become a professor and teach Creative Writing. She also plans to do freelance writing on the side.
