A Speck

by Michael Dean Billy Jr.

Sinking like a stone in the sea.
Fell through the stage

in the spectator’s gaze

Darker, darker, darker.
Pale blue fades to
Bloodblue fades to
Blueblack fades to
Black.
Plunge past the creatures of the deep.
Those with no need for eyes,

they have nothing to see.
Among them, finally able to breathe.

The world, a speck, like dust
floating in a narrow field of vision.
A gulf, a void, between.
