Ocean Waves and Lifeguard Stands

by Edward Trommelen

Hear the ocean waves crash,
As your heart beats against my chest.
And staring into your deep blue eyes,
It’s like watching the sun set,
Behind the never-ending sea.
The never-ending sea,
That keeps you away from me.

This is the first time I've seen you in weeks,
And the last time I’ll see you in months.
Just like a perfect scene in a movie,
Our kiss couldn't have been better scripted.
It's the ocean waves and lifeguard stands,
That keep me thinking you'll take my hand.

I would have never thought this night would end.
Eyes are shut and we kiss hand in hand.
Wondering why I feel so high.
It's just the kiss you gave when you said goodbye.
And all it takes is just one kiss,
For you to be my neverending bliss.
But the sea reminds me that you'll never be mine.

This is the first time I've seen you in weeks,
And the last time I’ll see you in months.
Just like a perfect scene in a movie,
Our kiss couldn't have been better scripted.
It's the ocean waves and lifeguard stands,
That keep me thinking you'll take my hand.

It's a deadly reminder,
The taste on my lips.
The way that you kissed me,
It's something I’ll always miss.
But every time I see the sea,
And the place we first kissed,
It’s a deadly reminder,
That sea will always be,
What keeps you away from me.
